The Ice Crystal Library

The Ice Crystal Library is part of the Antarctic Circles sculptural book series which explores Antarctica’s natural environment, science and heritage in the context of the 1959 Antarctic Treaty and subsequent environmental protocols.

Ice crystals share a underlying hexagonal molecular structure, however, air temperature and humidity affect the shape of a crystal's formation making each individual ice crystal unique. This carefully crafted series of books using traditional book-binding techniques is a library of ten distinct ice crystals types. Each palm-sized book opens to a 60° angle allowing the mirror pages within to reveal the six-sided symmetrical image of the ice crystal structure.
